A Crowned Thorn

What is the value of a thorn in our Christian journey? First, we must identify what a thorn is. According to the Dictionary one definition describes a thorn as “a source of continual annoyance or trouble”. A thorn can cause an immediate pain from its puncture or it can cause constant irritation and distress. Thorns that appear as a source of trouble are usually not welcomed companions on our daily quest. But the thorns we encounter are useful despite their irritations and disruptions. Thorns come to challenge and to strengthen your faith, your character, and your witness as a child of God. Thorns are the mechanism from which you gain more than you lose. Thorns are the pathway to reaching higher heights and deeper depths of sanctification and glory. With each thorn that attaches itself to your life, you become more and more like Christ. You become an overcomer of the thing that came to irritate or to disrupt your growth, but it, in turn, propels you into greater achievement in holy livi...

Who has God been to you ?

Who has the Lord been to you this year? Have you recalled the wonderful deeds and every act of love lavished upon you throughout the seasons?

We have had the privilege all year of intimately communing with Him and experiencing the essence of His majesty, the pureness of His humanity, and the passion of His great love toward us. Our God has been an ever present gift and nurturer of our very souls.

Where would we be this year without the blessings of knowing Him? For He alone is worthy of praise and His deeds worthy of our recall. We should ring in the new year with songs of gratitude and worship for bestowing upon us without measure the treasures of heaven and the gift of His presence. For continuously lending us His ear and His help all season long.

What have we learned from and about God this year?

We have learned that the goodness of God is without measure and never ceases. We have experienced His companionship and compassion.

He has filled us with the knowledge of His heart and the dedication of His will to meet and to provide for the needs of His beloved. We learned in a deeper way that His words are sincere as much as they are true.

In Him, we daily receive His blessings and the covering of His wings of protection. We learned that a love like His is like none other and will not fail. For it is His love that has propelled us and enriched us to meet the end of the year in gratitude and victory.

How do we say thank you?

As we recall the year of 2024, we must think on the wonders of our Lord and King. We must purpose to remember and to record in our mind and our hearts who God has been to us and why He is worthy of our praise and our worship. 

He is to be adored, and our lives should be a living testament of our appreciation for all that He is to us. Honoring him daily for the gift of knowing Him and being known by Him. 

This year’s close leaves behind an imprint of His goodness and mercy on our very being. Come, let us adore Him together. For He and His good deeds are worthy of our recall.
