There is an entry fee into heaven.
This fee comes from successfully bearing one’s cross while they were on earth. Have you ever took the time to really contemplate what this really means?
According to Luke 9:23, we are to take up our cross daily. That is to knowingly and willingly take on the challenges of no longer living for oneself but choosing to live your life by the standards and the strategy of Christ.
Taking on the life of Christ means abandoning your preferences and your solutions to the circumstances of life. It is to bear the pain of your flesh resistance and bitterness towards the abandonment of your self-will and protection for the trials and pathways of pain.
This indeed is a hard but sacred task.
Bearing the cross of self denial takes patience, conviction, and the power of the Holy Ghost. Traveling on the thorny road of salvation and sanctification will cause you to endure trials and circumstances you would not choose.
But on the thorn road is where you birth your wings.
Bearing your cross daily builds you into a more majestic and gloried being. Stripping you of the impurities of sin and imparting a character worthy of a righteous King. For only those who have purposefully and successfully bore the bruises and wounds from their journey on the thorn road will enter into the gates of an eternal and righteous kingdom.
So, take some time in prayer and examine yourself. Ask yourself have you fully given your will and your life over to God? Have you buried your desires and expectations and replaced them with the desires and goals of your heavenly father?
Traveling on the thorn road is not for the faint of heart.
Taking up your cross daily will require you to stay intentional and stay in a posture of living for the King and the rewards of heaven versus your will and your comforts.
But knowing that your efforts, although hard, are preparing you for a royal kingdom. The burdens you bear will transform into wings that transport you to an eternal resting place of overwhelming love, peace, and joy.
Therefore, press on.
Your labour on this thorn road is not in vain.
