A Crowned Thorn

What is the value of a thorn in our Christian journey? First, we must identify what a thorn is. According to the Dictionary one definition describes a thorn as “a source of continual annoyance or trouble”. A thorn can cause an immediate pain from its puncture or it can cause constant irritation and distress. Thorns that appear as a source of trouble are usually not welcomed companions on our daily quest. But the thorns we encounter are useful despite their irritations and disruptions. Thorns come to challenge and to strengthen your faith, your character, and your witness as a child of God. Thorns are the mechanism from which you gain more than you lose. Thorns are the pathway to reaching higher heights and deeper depths of sanctification and glory. With each thorn that attaches itself to your life, you become more and more like Christ. There's Still Time To Accept The Invitation

When you see the baby lying in the manger, what do you see? What message is it sending to you? What type of emotion arises within you?

I see the image of the glory of heaven, shining its light down from heaven into a stable and a trough filled with heaven’s gift offering the greatest invitation of all time.

I see a father offering His child to the world requesting that we love him, choose him, cherish him, and follow him. In the scriptures, we recount the entrance, life, and death of this precious and beloved child of heaven. This child, so loved from above, enters earth to pour out His goodness and care onto all that will receive Him.

There is no greater example of a man besides Him. So kind and sincere. Living out His nature of justice and kindness. Daily on a mission to seek and to save at great cost to himself any soul in despair and fallen from grace.

When he arrived until he left, He has been offering us himself. He is steadily offering and waiting to receive those who have yet to believe in Him and to receive His blessings.

Each Christmas season, we are reminded that God himself extended a holy invitation. Bidding us to come and look upon the baby and adore the man who came to be with us and for us. An invitation to claim the King of heaven in our hearts so that we may enter an eternal kingdom.

There’s still time. Accept the invitation to love and to cherish the One who poured out himself unto death because He so loved us. He came to share the love from which he received to all who would only choose to accept His invitation.
