A Crowned Thorn

What is the value of a thorn in our Christian journey? First, we must identify what a thorn is. According to the Dictionary one definition describes a thorn as “a source of continual annoyance or trouble”. A thorn can cause an immediate pain from its puncture or it can cause constant irritation and distress. Thorns that appear as a source of trouble are usually not welcomed companions on our daily quest. But the thorns we encounter are useful despite their irritations and disruptions. Thorns come to challenge and to strengthen your faith, your character, and your witness as a child of God. Thorns are the mechanism from which you gain more than you lose. Thorns are the pathway to reaching higher heights and deeper depths of sanctification and glory. With each thorn that attaches itself to your life, you become more and more like Christ. A Righteous War

When you think about a past trial or a trial you are currently facing, did you ever say to yourself,“this feels like I’m in a war? Did it feel as if you were fighting with your mind, emotions, body, and spirit leaving you feeling battered, bruised, and in desperate need of peace and rest?

A war is a battlefield that pushes its soldiers to face and to endure great hardships of great intensities and lengths. Many of which come in forms that one does not feel equipped or trained to endure.

But God is a master strategist.

He has crafted situations and circumstances that prove’s to others and to yourself what He already knows you are capable of enduring and achieving. He looks at the intricacies of your design and crafts trials that will bring about the spiritual and natural results He desires.

If we were to see into the mind of God and the way He sees the end from the beginning of a thing, we would marvel at the expected outcomes the trials of our life produces. Since we are unable to see the completed master plan we are left rummaging through our present emotions and difficulties trying to strategize for ourselves how we will survive.

But if we could put on the mind of Christ as a soldier in Christ's army, we would see that the plan and the outcomes are already scripted, and all we are left to do is resolve ourselves to play our parts and reap our righteous outcomes.

Every war has a master strategist.

And every war produces an even stronger warrior. A soldier who becomes a more skilled, resilient force to be reckoned with. God, in His infallible ways, will allow us to go through war like trials that test us in every way, knowing that the war we fight in circumstances is a righteous war for our souls. For God knows that the rewards of victory are making us more noble, Christ-like beings who will possess all the righteous character and abilities fit for a royal kingdom.

So keep fighting, keep laboring. For the natural and spiritual rewards are worth the righteous war you face.
