A Crowned Thorn

What is the value of a thorn in our Christian journey? First, we must identify what a thorn is. According to the Dictionary one definition describes a thorn as “a source of continual annoyance or trouble”. A thorn can cause an immediate pain from its puncture or it can cause constant irritation and distress. Thorns that appear as a source of trouble are usually not welcomed companions on our daily quest. But the thorns we encounter are useful despite their irritations and disruptions. Thorns come to challenge and to strengthen your faith, your character, and your witness as a child of God. Thorns are the mechanism from which you gain more than you lose. Thorns are the pathway to reaching higher heights and deeper depths of sanctification and glory. With each thorn that attaches itself to your life, you become more and more like Christ. You become an overcomer of the thing that came to irritate or to disrupt your growth, but it, in turn, propels you into greater achievement in holy livi...

 Oh my child do you have ears to hear? My heart seeks to commune with thee. My child are you listening? There is a message I must relay to you, but you must be still enough, and alert enough to receive these divine messages from me. Bend your ear, and settle your soul, for in our secret place is where we will commune, heart to heart.

The mysteries of God are deep. But, to a unique and willing people, God seeks to daily unveil himself through the secret garden of the soul. Encapsulated within each communion, God relays intimate and personalized messages. God transmits what is divinely discerned to address the needs and the concerns facing His children. But, in order to gain these secret divine messages, one has to be adept to hearing the faint call from the Saviour.

The art of being still, every child of God must discover, and learn to rest in, in order to routinely receive of His divine presence. It is in the place of stillness, where God quietly speaks.  The stillness of ones heart and mind will bring God close, and with His closeness comes the gifts of His wisdom and love.

The art of being still creates an atmosphere for the divine messages to flow freely, but God's children are challenged to create such an atmosphere in a world that is chaotic, and noisy. God designed His children with the need to rest in Him, and to fellowship with Him continuously. Just as the body needs nourishment and rest, the soul craves constant communion with its Creator.

Conversely, God seeks to be a daily companion with His children. Daily, He sits patiently waiting for an invitation to meet in the secret place where there is much to share.  For He knows that in His garden bloom's of hope, love, and grace awaits.


Journal Entry: Dear Lord, daily you are speaking. All around there are messages from you and that reflect your majesty. Help me lord to hear you speak to me. I want to know you in such a way that I could never miss a word from you because we are so knit together. I desire to be of one mind, and one heart with you Lord. Help grant my request today.
