A Crowned Thorn

What is the value of a thorn in our Christian journey? First, we must identify what a thorn is. According to the Dictionary one definition describes a thorn as “a source of continual annoyance or trouble”. A thorn can cause an immediate pain from its puncture or it can cause constant irritation and distress. Thorns that appear as a source of trouble are usually not welcomed companions on our daily quest. But the thorns we encounter are useful despite their irritations and disruptions. Thorns come to challenge and to strengthen your faith, your character, and your witness as a child of God. Thorns are the mechanism from which you gain more than you lose. Thorns are the pathway to reaching higher heights and deeper depths of sanctification and glory. With each thorn that attaches itself to your life, you become more and more like Christ. You become an overcomer of the thing that came to irritate or to disrupt your growth, but it, in turn, propels you into greater achievement in holy livi...

Hope Deferred Is Still Hope In The One Who Promised

The life of a Believer is formed and tried through the fire of faith and patience. In these lessons of building ones faith, comes the ache of waiting. Waiting for divine instruction, waiting for an indwelling of the Holy Spirit to renew and revive your soul and spirit, and the pain of waiting to see the manifestation of the said promise. A Believer must contend to see the glory that is set before them not knowing how long they must endure the trial of waiting.

But a hope deferred is still hope, because we believe in the Lord, who is our hope. Although we can get weary in waiting to receive that which is promised, we do not fail to believe in, and hope in, the One who promised us. He is who we live for.  As we get to know Him in a greater way we wait for the gift He has promised, sometimes impatiently, but we live daily in the gift of His presence. Therefore, He becomes the hope of our lives, and in Him we have everything.  It's a win-win situation.

The Hope of Glory lives and strives with us daily. Just as one labour's through each season with the anticipation of the next, you wait for what is sure to come. Hope deferred does not impede its arrival but it allows you to grab hold to Gods hand until He says your season has arrived. Hope birthed patience and patience birthed the promise.

So, let not the anticipated gift or destination gain the majority of your focus and will, instead be inspired to live in the present with fullness and gladness knowing that what is promised will be. Be not dismayed or discouraged, for God will surely deliver on His promise's to His beloved who put their love and trust in Him.

Journal Entry: I will no longer be weary in my waiting season because I have come to learn that the outcome is not more to me than my daily relationship with you. I want what you have promised but I will live in the present with a thankful heart knowing that what you have set in your heart for me to do, to have, to experience, it will be fulfilled. My hope is not deferred when I choose to live daily in the promise that good things are sure to follow me as I follow you.

Now it's your turn to let your soul speak! Grab your journal and share your thoughts on how you will no longer be weary in your waiting season.
