A Crowned Thorn

What is the value of a thorn in our Christian journey? First, we must identify what a thorn is. According to the Dictionary one definition describes a thorn as “a source of continual annoyance or trouble”. A thorn can cause an immediate pain from its puncture or it can cause constant irritation and distress. Thorns that appear as a source of trouble are usually not welcomed companions on our daily quest. But the thorns we encounter are useful despite their irritations and disruptions. Thorns come to challenge and to strengthen your faith, your character, and your witness as a child of God. Thorns are the mechanism from which you gain more than you lose. Thorns are the pathway to reaching higher heights and deeper depths of sanctification and glory. With each thorn that attaches itself to your life, you become more and more like Christ. You become an overcomer of the thing that came to irritate or to disrupt your growth, but it, in turn, propels you into greater achievement in holy livi...

Becoming The Me Your Crafting Me To Be Lord

#guided-devotional, #prayer-journal, #christian-living-journal-prompt

We are being crafted and shaped daily by the Master craftsman and Lord of our souls. This process can at times be done willingly and there are times when your soul agrees with the process but your flesh is in steady protest.

This inner struggle of wills between your spirit and flesh can literally feel like your natural flesh is in a war and dying. It can be an extremely overwhelming experience but there is a reason and a need to endure such a process. This process of transformation is to enlarge our spirit in order to become, to blossom, to emerge as the vehicle of Gods design: special, holy, anointed, qualified, and more like Him.

When we accepted the privilege of living for the King of Kings we did not fully comprehend how much of ourselves we would have to let go of: our being self centered, self focused, self protective, and self controlling ways in order to accept and walk in ways that greater reflect the character and skills of our Heavenly Father.

Being in the hand of the Master crafter takes a higher level of trust and a willingness to be broken and shaped in ways you could never conceptualize or desire. As one is crafted and shaped to fulfill the architects design there is a mental and spiritual question one must ask themselves and that is: do I believe in and do I trust the hands that hold my life and the way I must go for His glory and for His purpose?  For when you ask this question you will either yield to or abandon the crafting process.

If you choose to embrace the process you choose to embrace pain but you also choose to be more like the Master crafter. You choose to be more like the One you love. You endure so that you can become a greater beacon of light and wisdom because you were trained by the ultimate teacher and guide. You suffer the shaping so that you can become a better version of yourself willing to die off the things that hinder, doesn't glorify or edify the you you are becoming. You willingly participate in the molding and shaping process because you believe in the will and plan of God even if it cost you pain and discomfort.

So, on this journey of becoming a new version of you in and for the glory and purpose of God although you may have not have fully understood what becoming a new creature would entail you realize that who you are becoming  will be a grand masterpiece and the apple of God's eye.

The art of becoming who you need to be in Christ is a difficult one but who you become on the other side of the shaping is priceless and worth the journey if in your heart you want desperately to be more like the Master craftsman.

Journal Entry: Dear Lord in all honesty I am struggling with the things I have to let go of and the pains I must endure in order to become what you need me to be. Lord, I still choose you but the pain of transition seems to be getting the best of me. Please fill me with your strength to hold on to see the benefits of what your crafting me to be. I believe in you. I believe in where you are taking me. I believe you know better than me what I need but Lord I need more comfort and strength. Please hold me and keep me to see the gift of who I am becoming in you.
