A Crowned Thorn

What is the value of a thorn in our Christian journey? First, we must identify what a thorn is. According to the Dictionary one definition describes a thorn as “a source of continual annoyance or trouble”. A thorn can cause an immediate pain from its puncture or it can cause constant irritation and distress. Thorns that appear as a source of trouble are usually not welcomed companions on our daily quest. But the thorns we encounter are useful despite their irritations and disruptions. Thorns come to challenge and to strengthen your faith, your character, and your witness as a child of God. Thorns are the mechanism from which you gain more than you lose. Thorns are the pathway to reaching higher heights and deeper depths of sanctification and glory. With each thorn that attaches itself to your life, you become more and more like Christ. You become an overcomer of the thing that came to irritate or to disrupt your growth, but it, in turn, propels you into greater achievement in holy livi...

Your Tears Speak A Language God Can Hear And Understand

You are so loved. God by design created each of us to be in communion with Him. He created us with such intricacy of detail and purpose that He considered all the ways we would need to express our innermost selves.

All of God's creation speaks to God in a language He can understand. The earth speaks and responds to God. The wind, trees and animals speak and respond to God. And we, the highest form of life on this earth have multiple ways to communicate with Him. One of the sweetest forms of communicating with God is through our tears.

Tears are a powerful communicator because they speak the language of our souls. Tears speak what our words and intellect cannot. Our tears speak  with a purity and sincerity that only God can decipher their meaning and respond appropriately.  Tears are such a treasured communicator that God himself stores each of the tears we shed in bottle close to his heart.

God being so mindful of man considered and equipped us to always have a means of getting in touch with Him. God never wants to be apart or distant from us and therefore we are without an excuse, for we can touch God through the written word. When we're grieving or hurting we can reach God through our moans. We can reach Him with our fervent and constant prayers. We can reach God through praise and worship and when we can't find the words to say at all we can freely let the tears flow and God will interpret their meaning and respond to us in love! 

So, do you have something to say to God? Is your heart yearning for the words hidden inside to be released? We need to take comfort and to use this powerful tool God has equipped us with. Tears are the voice of our soul. Tears are a precious gift God has intentionally provided and encourages us to use. Tears are never wasted and each tear is a kept treasure of the intimate time shared together expressing our innermost need. God treasures our tearful communications with Him for its an unshared space where only you and Him reside. Through the communication and release of your tears God promotes healing and divine connection. Your tears have purpose and they speak a treasured language God seeks to hear and to respond with the depth of His love.


Journal Prompt

Dear Lord thank you for the purifying and communicative power of my tears. Thank you for showing me that my tears have purpose and is a means of drawing closer to you. Thank you that my tears can express my soul when my words fail me. And thank you for your assuring and ever present love to catch every falling tear and to interpret their need and to send help and comfort.
