Living as a person of integrity and discipline is a honor and an expectation when living for Christ. We are His representative's on the earth and He is not one who we associate characteristics of laziness, unreliability, undisciplined, unorganized, and ineffective. As God ambassadors we too should be known as a people whose attitudes and work ethics reflect the God standard of which we have been trained and strive to maintain.
The challenge with being a person of excellence is that you become accustomed to carrying big loads of responsibility. A person of excellence is a trusted servant and a deliverer of order and they learn this diligence from sitting at the Masters feet and gleaning from His ways and His instruction. But if one is not careful one can become such a great worker that they are not able to receive and or ask for help well.
As a good servant you become skilled at discerning needs and meeting them. You love the Lord and seek to please Him in all of your efforts of outward action but when it's your time of need you struggle with being able to Rest in the God you have studied and come to know and to Release the need to Him.
Doers, in order to be whole souls must learn that God seeks to be to them what they are to the world. He wants to be released to go to work meeting their needs when they take their hands and their minds off the magnitude of the issue and the myriad of solutions they play in their mind as if they can fix or meet their own needs with their own effort. God wants His servants of excellence to be whole spiritually and emotionally and not bound by their own circumstances. Freedom, peace, and strength comes from leaning into the God who seeks to serve them with the same diligence, integrity, and grace that He equips them with to serve others.
It's time for God's soldiers to operate by His example and heed the instructions they have been given but without neglecting the fact that a good servant is also one that should be able to be served. God has equipped each of His children on how to give and to receive but it must be activated in order to obtain the benefits. Those who carry a Mary and a Martha mindset must learn to trust not in themselves but in God knowing that the best thing they can ever do for themselves is to place their needs in the hands of the ultimate problem solver in whom there is no failure.
Journal Prompt
Oh Lord I'm grateful to have a spirit of instruction and a strong application. I'm grateful for my ability to meet needs and to be responsible but Lord I also seek to learn how to better receive help and the grace to be in peace when I do. You're teaching me that a servant must be served and who greater to serve me than you. Thank you for helping me to release my need to do everything, including the need to fix myself and fix my problems. You have equipped me to be here for others and I will strive harder to let you be there for me.
