A Crowned Thorn

What is the value of a thorn in our Christian journey? First, we must identify what a thorn is. According to the Dictionary one definition describes a thorn as “a source of continual annoyance or trouble”. A thorn can cause an immediate pain from its puncture or it can cause constant irritation and distress. Thorns that appear as a source of trouble are usually not welcomed companions on our daily quest. But the thorns we encounter are useful despite their irritations and disruptions. Thorns come to challenge and to strengthen your faith, your character, and your witness as a child of God. Thorns are the mechanism from which you gain more than you lose. Thorns are the pathway to reaching higher heights and deeper depths of sanctification and glory. With each thorn that attaches itself to your life, you become more and more like Christ. You become an overcomer of the thing that came to irritate or to disrupt your growth, but it, in turn, propels you into greater achievement in holy livi...

Pray. Believe. Expect

What’s concerning you beloved that is hindering you from truly believing and expecting what you asked of God? What is happening in your heart and mind that keeps you bringing your cares to the Lord but then struggle to believe and accept that God can and will do what you requested? 

First, beloved you're not alone in having struggles with elevating your faith. Faith is a process that is developed and cultivated with each trial and each stage of relationship building with God. So acknowledging your desire to pray, believe, and expect is a level of growth.  The result you desire is one that is increased the more you reach up to God and search and absorb His holy word. 

God wants you to test Him so He can show you that you can trust in handing over your cares to Him in prayer believing in Him to be able and willing to meet your need and loving you enough to give you a hope and an assurance that what you seek you will find. Having the faith to pray believe and expect  from God often times is less about believing in a big and powerful God and more about  our inability to fully give our cares to Him, walk away, and wait to receive. For its in the waiting that we continue to see, feel, and or experience things that keep us impatient and eager for a resolution.  It's in the waiting that our belief and level of expectation can be tried.  Because of this, we can fall into wanting to handle things our own way but this too is a testing and stretching of your faith.  If you can bring your mind and your will and your fears under subjection( and we know how hard this can be) then you can pray and believe in expectation with confidence. 

So beloved don't be discouraged and continue to strive to increase your faith in God and His timing knowing that it's God’s good pleasure to meet your needs but we have to grow in Him to allow Him to do the wondrous things we desire of Him.


Journal Entry



Oh Lord Im struggling to believe my prayers and expect you to meet my needs. Please help me to increase my faith in you and the words you have spoken.  Help me to identify what is  hindering me from praying in confidence versus praying and still living with worry, anxiety, and doubt. Teach me and show me how to get me out of the way and to trust in you fully.
