A Crowned Thorn

What is the value of a thorn in our Christian journey? First, we must identify what a thorn is. According to the Dictionary one definition describes a thorn as “a source of continual annoyance or trouble”. A thorn can cause an immediate pain from its puncture or it can cause constant irritation and distress. Thorns that appear as a source of trouble are usually not welcomed companions on our daily quest. But the thorns we encounter are useful despite their irritations and disruptions. Thorns come to challenge and to strengthen your faith, your character, and your witness as a child of God. Thorns are the mechanism from which you gain more than you lose. Thorns are the pathway to reaching higher heights and deeper depths of sanctification and glory. With each thorn that attaches itself to your life, you become more and more like Christ. You become an overcomer of the thing that came to irritate or to disrupt your growth, but it, in turn, propels you into greater achievement in holy livi...

Peculiar On Purpose

The Holy Ghost has the power to transform you from the inside out if  you let it.  Are you partnering with the Holy Ghost to live a life that is consecrated to the ways of holy living?  The Holy Ghost is a gift that when given permission and not hindered it has the ability to mold you and make you into a child of the king by changing your interest, changing what your drawn to,  while giving you a sense of discernment towards people and things.  You become set apart by nature because of your willingness to train and function in the ways of your father.  As a member of the royal family you live and operate in the etiquette and requirements established by the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

Are you struggling with accepting your assignment and fully embracing your place as a member of the royal family of God?  Do your actions represent the heritage you were born again into or are you still living in and influenced by the heritage of the world?

Living set apart on purpose requires discipline.  In order for you to live fully as a child of God you must remove the barriers that hinder you by disciplining what you see, what you think, and who you entertain so that you don’t take on the traits of the world.  But this is also true for preserving your uniqueness in God,  you must be strategic and discerning about what you see, what you think and who you entertain. Take the time to pause today to examine and to choose again who and what you will serve.  The challenges of walking a life separate from the world is not easy but remember who you are in Christ. You are a royal priesthood which makes you special and privileged and yet different.  Walk boldly and uprightly by the power of the Holy Ghost to be a royal son or daughter that the King of Kings and the Lord of all Lords can be proud and accepting of.  Be peculiar and ok with it for the rewards of the Lord  and His ability to to call you His own is far better than the rewards and the embrace of the world.

Journal Entry:  Are your eyes and desires swayed by the presentation of the world? Are the ways of the world more desirable than living in the ways of the Lord?  Is your circle of influence filled with other people of the royal priesthood who will feed you in the ways of the kingdom and not in the ways of the world? Share your struggles with the Lord. Pray and ask Him how to build your confidence and strength in being peculiar on purpose and being ok with it.
