Do you ever get tired of being you? Are there patterns of behaviors, emotional responses, and or situations that causes your judgment and decision making to be off? If so, it can be very frustrating and emotionally draining because it is a reminder that you are flawed and a continuous work in progress. It can be devastating when the thing you think you conquered about yourself re-emerges out of nowhere. It conjures up so many emotions related to hurt, disappointment, and even shame. If we do not immediately take our emotions to the Lord the risk of its potential to debilitate us both naturally and spiritually is a risk we must avoid.
Let’s be honest though, it can be very tough for us to acknowledge our weaknesses but we must do it. We must be reminded in this life that we are not God and that we have inherent areas in our being that will require consistent pruning and deliberate action. It is in this frustration of recognizing our areas of weakness through our vulnerabilities that we begin to develop the practice of acknowledging, admitting, and releasing. This practice of acknowledging, admitting, and releasing allows us to love ourselves through our acceptance of our flaws and it keeps us engaged and dependant on God. God has the ability to show us ourselves, and hold our hands as He takes our flaws and creates a masterpiece out of it. We must hold fast to Him to transform our flaws in ways we cannot do on our own.
Challenge yourself to not let these opportunities of awareness shake your confidence in yourself and in God. Don't let these hiccups in judgment and or these patterns of behavior that show up out of no where that are not representative of the you your striving to be become a stronghold in your life. Seek God and tell Him about your weak area. Remind yourself that you are not God and will not always do things right. Release the pain, hurt, shame, and disappointment that arose and fully give it to God. When you release it fully to God, He in partnership with you, will work with you to transform your flaws to work for your good.
Journal Entry: Instead of beating yourself up over a mistake or poor judgement write a prayer to God to help you acknowledge your error, admit you need Him to get better and to grant you the strength needed not to hold onto the pain, frustration, or shame but to release it to Him fully so that it does not hinder how you feel about yourself or the work you are needed to do for the kingdom.
