A Crowned Thorn

What is the value of a thorn in our Christian journey? First, we must identify what a thorn is. According to the Dictionary one definition describes a thorn as “a source of continual annoyance or trouble”. A thorn can cause an immediate pain from its puncture or it can cause constant irritation and distress. Thorns that appear as a source of trouble are usually not welcomed companions on our daily quest. But the thorns we encounter are useful despite their irritations and disruptions. Thorns come to challenge and to strengthen your faith, your character, and your witness as a child of God. Thorns are the mechanism from which you gain more than you lose. Thorns are the pathway to reaching higher heights and deeper depths of sanctification and glory. With each thorn that attaches itself to your life, you become more and more like Christ. Release-Reflect-Renew

As you journal are you surprised by what is released out of you once you begin putting pen to paper?  Are you surprised by the level of emotion expressed when you give your heart permission to speak?  Having consistent and frequent communion with God to release what’s within provides the framework for emotional and spiritual wellness.
As Christians we go through a lot in this life and our voice and our emotions matter. It is by allowing us to spend intimate time sharing our thoughts, pains, needs, hopes, and victories that we allow God to work in our heart and through our spirit to reflect, impart wisdom, and to comfort.
There is so much inside of you. Take the time to be vulnerable and intimate with God through your journaling and watch God meet you in the process. You'll find that as you release words of your heart and release the emotions hidden within you that you ultimately will discover more about you and more about the God who loves you.  It is while you are in the process of releasing your thoughts and emotions that God sweetly shows up and reminds you that He Hears, He Understands, He Walks With You, He Uplifts, and  He Is Always There
By releasing and getting in tuned with your emotions and connecting with God you allow yourself space to reflect on the lessons learned, the victories won, and renew yourself in the knowledge that you are never far from His reach and He has the power to envelope you in His arms while you intimately communicate with Him on the written page. So release, reflect, and be renewed often through the power of the written word for your spiritual and emotional well-being!

Journal Entry: Go back and revisit a journal entry and identify what you were able to release. What was gained or learned in that entry? How did you feel at the conclusion of the entry?
