A Crowned Thorn

What is the value of a thorn in our Christian journey? First, we must identify what a thorn is. According to the Dictionary one definition describes a thorn as “a source of continual annoyance or trouble”. A thorn can cause an immediate pain from its puncture or it can cause constant irritation and distress. Thorns that appear as a source of trouble are usually not welcomed companions on our daily quest. But the thorns we encounter are useful despite their irritations and disruptions. Thorns come to challenge and to strengthen your faith, your character, and your witness as a child of God. Thorns are the mechanism from which you gain more than you lose. Thorns are the pathway to reaching higher heights and deeper depths of sanctification and glory. With each thorn that attaches itself to your life, you become more and more like Christ. You become an overcomer of the thing that came to irritate or to disrupt your growth, but it, in turn, propels you into greater achievement in holy livi...

Honor His Position


Who is God to you? Do you have a healthy fear of Him?  Are you sensitive to how you speak about Him and how you enter into and behave in His church?  Do you have topics of conversations and jokes that you refuse to participate in because of your respect and honor for who God is and what He represents?
Today being casual in our conversation, in our attire, in our relationships, and even in our church settings has become a normal affair. Rigidity and or starch rules and regulations is frowned upon and the freedom of speech, attitude, and behaviors lives freely in our society based on ones interpretation or ones feeling and less on what is right and what is wrong.
God is not a casual being. He is God. He deserves and requires that all things pertaining to Him including His house of worship be reverenced. We must be careful not to let the worlds way of living in the grey areas slip over into the Believers way of being. We must  always remember God in all that we do and to always honor His position of being King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is due respect and honor in all of our ways and we must always be careful to not esteem anyone or anything higher than Him.
We must strive to honor the unrivaled position of God by keeping God first in our lives, keep His name sacred, and His house of worship holy and undefiled. We must also ensure that our manner of being edifies God and does not give others the permission to dishonor God in their speech and or actions.
Journal Entry: 
Write about the majesty of God and how we should honor Him in our everyday lives. Think about how you have seen the name and position of God not held in high esteem in our television shows, language, churches, schools...and write a prayer for the state of our world as it relates to God.
