A Crowned Thorn

What is the value of a thorn in our Christian journey? First, we must identify what a thorn is. According to the Dictionary one definition describes a thorn as “a source of continual annoyance or trouble”. A thorn can cause an immediate pain from its puncture or it can cause constant irritation and distress. Thorns that appear as a source of trouble are usually not welcomed companions on our daily quest. But the thorns we encounter are useful despite their irritations and disruptions. Committed

As you look over your time with the Lord have you been surprised by your level of commitment to serve and to love God come what may?  Love is powerful. Love in all of its fullness produces a dedication that is boundless. And when tested, it produces a resolve and an unfailing attempt to keep holding on,  even when it hurts or its difficult.
We often talk about, and rightly so, how deeply God is in love with us and how much He is committed to loving us when He frequently doesn’t get anything in return.  How often are you in reflection of your staying power? How often do you think of the times when your love for the Father was tested and how you, beyond all reason, but with all sincerity fought to stay close to God and to not walk away?
God is so good that He loves us so intently and in return we should love Him with such a dedication and a passion. Often we experience trials that test us to our core but in the testing we learn that the love of Christ lives deep within us,  so much so, that we have and will continue to suffer for His name sake because He is worthy of our love and commitment.

Journal Prompt:
